Attention Parents, Teachers & Principals!
Meditation with Children: A Free Presentation
If you’re a parent, teacher, principal or a meditator, you won’t want to miss this free presentation that will teach you how to teach Christian Meditation to children.
This Saturday, March 17, presentation is an outreach of the World Community for Christian Meditation to address the spiritual, psychological and practical aspects of introducing Christian Meditation to children and teachers. It may seem a paradox that children can be still and silent and enjoy it. But like many adults, children also yearn for the experience of an interior way of being that helps buffer the hustle and bustle of a harried world.
Cornerstone Center Founder Joanne Rapp, M.Div., will lead this presentation with Rev. Frank Cassidy, an important and longtime teacher of Christian Meditation. Together they will introduce the importance of the silent prayer as taught by Father John Main, and how crucial it is for children to begin at an early age a way of silence and intimacy with God.
Early registration is recommended for this free event that will be held on Saturday, March 17, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Cornerstone Center, 4423 N. 24th St., Phoenix, AZ 85016. To register call 602-956-7042 or e-mail info@cornerstone-phx.org. Free will donations accepted.
Sign Up for Free Online Study of Word Into Silence
This short, online study will use the book, Word Into Silence, as a means to put into practice not only meditation but an awareness in daily life. Whether you are new to meditation or a long time meditator you will be inspired by this book. "The all important aim in Christian meditation is to allow God's mysterious and silent presence within us to become not only a reality, but the reality of our lives... that which gives meaning, shape and purpose to everything we do, everything we are."
How the course works:
• Once you register you will receive three weekly emails, covering a certain portion of Word into Silence. Each email will contain a PDF file containing quotes, insights written by Cornerstone Co-Director Amanda Petersen and questions to encourage you in your practice of meditation.
• This is self study. There is no discussion forum. You are welcome to come to a meditation group or event at The Cornerstone Center or schedule time with one of our spiritual directors (fee involved) if you have questions.
To register call Amanda Petersen at 602-315-5723 or e-mail info@cornerstone-phx.org.
