New Year Reflections

Happy New Year! May 2015 find all of us in joy and peace and moving with the Spirit as She leads!

Someone wrote me and said that the Christmas holidays and all that followed seem to have been very long. I second that. Maybe it was the constant drumming of Christmas songs endlessly beating, the snowballs glistening, the reindeers coming, or the jingle jangle nonstop. Still, what a great deal of fun with family and the soaring liturgy, too. May the grace of this season still going on continue to bless all of us.

This finds us planning some new events. See the Casita Series which will begin Wednesday, Jan. 14, from 6-7:30 p.m. The topic for the series is “Voices of Hope for the Journey” and we are looking forward to Agnes Umuligirwa, a U.S. citizen, formerly a refugee from Rwanda, to speak on women in Africa. See our Event Calendar for series details. Please note that this series is on Wednesdays instead of Mondays and there is no charge to attend, but donations are always welcome.

Our Lenten Series begins on Saturday, Feb. 21, with Elizabeth Ursic, Ph.D., M.Div., who will lead us into “The Desert Fathers and Mothers.” We have a marvelous day planned with JoAnn Mast, from Veriditas, who present a labyrinth workshop, “Meditation in Motion.” And Adriana Cavina, M.Div., D.Min., will present Celtic spirituality about John O’Donahue and Laurence Freeman. All of this in the spirit of Lent and self-renewal. Again, see our Event Calendar for costs and registration information.

Other plans are in the making. Watch your email box and visit here for our updates.

God bless us all in the New Year, as we keep striving for silence, stillness and simplicity. May His peace change our hearts and then the world, too!
